Silver Lining won Hong Kong Horse of the Year three times during the seasons between 1977 and 1979, and 1980/1981. A legendary Horse of the Year of the late 1970s, the Hong Kong style café in the Happy Valley racecourse was named after it. Its skeleton was made into a specimen after it died and kept at the Hong Kong Racing Museum.
The figurine is modelled showing the horse moving forward. The muscles and fur all show the forward movements of the horse and jockey. Parts of the figurine such as the color of the horse fur, horse tack, and jockey are hand-painted to reproduce details accurately.
